Convertible Clothing: Yay or Nay? June 24, 2008

Convertible clothing pieces are something I have long been aware of. Convertible tops that tie in various ways to creat a completely different look; pants that can be shortened, dress that can also be worn as tuniques; and, long skirts that double as tops. But can 1 piece of clothing be successfully worn in multiple ways and still look great? Well, I suppose that the obvious answer is that it depends on the piece of clothing.
I did, however, manage to find a couple indie designers who I feel have successfully managed to accomplish this feat:

First up is nectorgirl who will create a custom convertible summer hemp wrap top complete with crochet pin to your measurements.
There are several ways to wear these tops, here are a couple:

Poppy’s Wicked Garden , a perennial favorite of mine, is dishing up these fabulous pieces which can double as a top or a dress. The POPPY HOUNDSTOOTH convertible DRESS is a prime example and great way to get more bang for your buck.
